The Eagle and the Crow
There’s a modern leadership parable, attributed to Dr. Miles Monroe, about the Eagle and the Crow. Did you know that the only bird that dares to attack an eagle is the crow? It lands right on the eagle’s back and pecks at its neck. Relentless. Annoying. But the eagle doesn’t fight back. It doesn’t waste energy flapping or trying to shake the crow off. Instead, the eagle opens its wings and ascends…rising higher and higher.
As the air thins, the crow can’t breathe. It lets go and it falls away, not because it was defeated but because it was outgrown.
Growth mindset isn’t always about effort. Sometimes it’s about elevation. Not every battle deserves your claws. Not every critic earns a response. Not every crow gets your oxygen. Let the crows squawk…and RISE.
When you rise, the environment changes, and the crows can’t follow.
There will always be “crows” in your life — challenges, critics, distractions. You can spend your energy fighting them… or you can choose to rise above them. Focus on your goals. Stay calm. Keep climbing.
Because when you choose the higher path, the noise fades away on its own.
Ascending like an eagle? That’s a Growth Mindset.
So the next time you face frustration or someone tries to bring you down, remember the eagle. Don’t engage. Elevate.
